Primary Curriculum

In the Primary Department at St Vincent’s, we believe that every child, regardless of visual or sensory impairment, deserves the very best start in life. Our vision is to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where pupils are inspired to explore, to learn, and to grow in confidence. We focus on unlocking each child’s potential by providing an ambitious, engaging curriculum that is fully accessible, removing barriers so that every pupil can achieve and flourish.

We follow the full National Curriculum, ensuring that pupils access a broad and balanced education that is carefully adapted to meet their individual needs. Clear progression routes are built into our approach so that pupils are well-prepared for the transition into our KS3 department, where their learning continues to build in ambition, independence, and challenge.

We place the child at the centre of everything we do, building strong foundations in communication, independence, literacy, numeracy, and social skills. Through personalised teaching and multisensory approaches, we ensure pupils experience success, develop resilience, and build the skills they need to thrive both in school and beyond.

Our vision is for the Primary Department to be a place of joy, discovery, and possibility, where children are celebrated for who they are and supported to become curious, confident, and independent learners, ready for the next stage of their journey.
