Assessment

At St Vincent’s, assessment is an integral part of teaching and learning, ensuring that every pupil with visual and sensory impairments is recognised, valued, and supported to achieve their full potential. We believe that assessment should celebrate progress, inform teaching, and provide pupils with the opportunity to demonstrate their strengths and achievements in ways that are meaningful and accessible to them.

Through the use of iTrack, our online assessment tool, we are able to monitor, record, and analyse progress across the curriculum with accuracy and consistency. This allows us to identify next steps in learning, tailor support, and ensure that all pupils can make sustained progress, no matter their starting point. Assessments are adapted to meet the individual needs of pupils, with a strong emphasis on accessibility, equity, and inclusivity.

Our vision is for assessment to be a positive and empowering experience, providing staff, pupils, and families with a clear picture of learning and development. It supports our commitment to high expectations, personalised learning, and preparing pupils for independence and life beyond school. Assessment at St Vincent’s is not just about measuring outcomes, but about recognising growth, celebrating achievement, and ensuring that every pupil is able to flourish.
