Alternative Provision

In the Alternative Provision Department at our school, we recognise that some pupils have highly complex and individual needs that require a different pathway to learning. Our vision is to provide a safe, nurturing, and responsive environment where every child with visual and sensory impairments — alongside additional challenges — is valued, supported, and empowered to achieve their fullest potential.

We do not follow a one-size-fits-all curriculum. Instead, we design personalised learning experiences that place the pupil at the centre, focusing on communication, independence, sensory exploration, and emotional wellbeing. Learning is built around each child’s strengths and needs, enabling them to experience success in ways that are meaningful and purposeful.

Our vision is for pupils in the Alternative Provision Department to develop the skills that matter most for their lives: the ability to express themselves, to build positive relationships, to make choices, and to engage with the world in a way that fosters dignity, confidence, and joy.

Ultimately, this department exists to ensure that every child, no matter how complex their needs, is given the opportunity to flourish, to be celebrated, and to live a life of possibility and belonging.
