Computing

St Vincent’s school sets the highest of standards when it comes to our vision for computing. Our vision is to equip every pupil with the skills, confidence, and creativity to thrive in a digital world. Using the TeachIT curriculum, we provide a clear, progressive journey through computing that is adapted to meet the needs of learners with visual impairments. We make computing accessible through screen readers, magnification tools, braille displays, tactile keyboards, auditory feedback, and a wide range of assistive technologies, ensuring that every child can participate fully and meaningfully.

Computing benefits our pupils holistically by developing problem-solving, logical thinking, and resilience, while also enhancing communication, creativity, and independence. Pupils learn not only how to use technology safely and effectively but also how to create, design, and express themselves through it. These skills are vital in preparing learners for life beyond school, opening pathways to future learning, employment, and independence in an increasingly digital society.

Our aim is for pupils to see themselves as digital citizens and creators—confident, capable, and empowered to use technology to connect with the world, solve problems, and shape their own futures.
