St. Vincent's School
A Specialist School for Sensory Impairment and Other Needs
Geography
At our school, Geography enables pupils with visual and sensory impairments to explore and make sense of the world in accessible and meaningful ways. We believe that every learner should develop an understanding of people, places, and environments while building important skills such as curiosity, independence, and problem-solving.
Using Kapow at Key Stage 2 and Boost Learning at Key Stage 3, we provide a progressive curriculum that is carefully adapted to meet diverse needs. Lessons are multisensory, drawing on tactile resources, auditory materials, movement, and practical experiences to reduce barriers and foster inclusion.
Our vision is for pupils to enjoy Geography, to develop their vocabulary and enquiry skills, and to make real-life connections between people and environments. Geography at our school seeks to broaden horizons, celebrate diversity, and inspire curiosity, ensuring every pupil can access the subject in ways that empower and value their individual abilities.
