Key Stage 1

Pupils aged 5 to 7 years old in Year 1 and Year 2 of school

The National Curriculum outlines the requirements for the subjects covered during KS1. These include;

• English, taught mostly through the
  Literacy Hour.
  
• Mathematics, taught mostly through
  the Numeracy Hour.
  
• Science.
  
• Design & Technology
  
• Information & Communication
  Technology.
  
• History.
  
• Geography.
  
• Art & Design.
  
• Physical Education.
  
• Personal, Social and Health Education
  and Citizenship
  
• Religious Education, following the
  “Here I Am” Scheme from the Archdiocese
  of Liverpool
  

These subjects may be taught in specific lesson times or during topic work. In addition to these subjects, pupils at St. Vincent’s will have mobility lessons, swimming lessons and if required additional therapies.

At the end of KS1 all pupils will be assessed using Standard Assessment Tasks and Tests (SATS) and Teacher Assessment for English and Maths.
