Food Technology

This subject is offered to pupils across all of the Key Stages.

The programme covers:

  • Health and Safety
  • Purchase and Choice
  • Healthy Eating
  • Preparation and Planning
  • Cooking Methods
  • Self Help and Independent Living Skills

These skills are reinforced across curriculum areas and are transferred into the 24-hour curriculum.

The work covered enhances basic skills and the emphasis is on working towards independence. Accreditation in AQA Unit Award is available in the subject.

Post 16
At Post 16, Accreditation is through the BTEC Entry Level programme.

In addition students can follow the (BTEC Healthy Eating) Short Course with accreditation at Level 1.
